Abstract
This article examines the factors influencing White Americans' rejection of political correctness (PC), focusing on the roles of racial resentment, White guilt, and educational attainment. Using data from the 2016 American National Election Study pilot survey, the research finds that higher racial resentment is strongly associated with anti-PC attitudes, while greater White guilt correlates with support for PC. Contrary to some theories, educational attainment neither significantly predicts rejection of PC nor moderates the effects of racial resentment or White guilt on these views. These findings suggest that anti-PC stances among White Americans are closely tied to racial emotions rather than being mitigated or amplified by education, challenging narratives that education inherently fosters more racially progressive attitudes.
