Abstract

In this paper, I provide a new commentary to the Cebelireis Dağı inscription, from the perspective of Anatolian history and geography rather than following the traditional approach of Semitic philology. The analysis intends to contribute to our understanding of Cilicia during the Middle Iron Age and specifically during the 7th century BCE, which still appears to be the most likely chronological context for the text.
