Abstract
Going back as far as 400 BC, but putting emphasis on ancient Greek and Latin grammars, the book provides a non-comprehensive survey of the earliest grammars up to the first grammars of English. Being a grammar author himself (see e.g. [5]; [2]) and having taught English grammar for decades, Michael McCarthy can provide first-hand personal experience as well as professional expertise for this book. Grammar can also be considered in the sense of learning and teaching grammar, i.e. the English Language Teaching (ELT) context. [Extracted from the article]
