Abstract

The article focuses on the concept of nothingness as central to religious practice and self-transformation, exploring how this idea is developed by East Asian thinkers Kim Iryop and Tanabe Hajime and further engaged through Jacques Derrida's philosophy. Topics include the role of nothingness in understanding self-identity and freedom, the critique of dualistic worldviews especially regarding gender and the contrasting interpretations of nothingness in Eastern Buddhism and Western philosophy.
