Abstract
The article reports the first confirmed occurrence of the nematode Pterygodermatites affinis parasitizing a stray cat (Felis catus) in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, India. The nematodes were recovered from the small intestine of a deceased female stray cat during a necropsy conducted as part of a helminthological surveillance program. This finding expands the known host range and geographical distribution of P. affinis, which has primarily been documented in Europe and North Africa. The study emphasizes the need for enhanced parasitic surveillance in urban environments, particularly concerning stray animals, to address potential health risks associated with parasitic infections.
