Abstract
The article examines the role of digitalisation in Family Language Policy (FLP) and heritage language (HL) transmission among 45 Russophone immigrant families in Estonia, Germany, and Sweden. It finds that digital technologies facilitate intergenerational communication and provide children greater access to Russian, supporting HL maintenance especially through internet-based contact with extended family and online media. However, digital tools alone do not guarantee HL transmission; parental involvement and child agency remain crucial factors. The study highlights both opportunities and challenges posed by digital media, including exposure to diverse language registers and the need for parents to actively guide HL use within the family context.
