Abstract
The article discusses a study conducted by researchers at the University of Illinois that examines the impact of political correctness (PC) on social perception and behavioral intentions. The study involved six survey-based experiments with 2,179 participants and aimed to assess whether PC achieves its goals of being inoffensive, inclusive, and nonstigmatizing. Findings indicate that PC often fails to meet these objectives, particularly among conservatives and older individuals, who perceived it as exclusive and stigmatizing, leading to negative mood effects and decreased care-seeking intentions. The research highlights the need for scrutiny regarding the widespread use of PC despite its inclusive intentions. [Extracted from the article]
