Abstract

The article discusses the revival of scholarly interest in the Latin American left, particularly focusing on the Communist International (Comintern) period and the Cold War. The book "Transnational communism across the Americas" explores the complex connections between various actors in the region, with a particular emphasis on the circum-Caribbean. The chapters in the book cover topics such as the Comintern's relationships with non-communist groups, the Latin American presence at the Comintern, and the transnational connections of Latin American student and youth groups. The article praises the high quality of the contributions in the book and suggests that further research could expand the analysis into the 1960s and beyond. [Extracted from the article]
