Abstract
According to a report by watchdog group Accountable.US, nonprofit groups associated with conservative power broker Leonard Leo have paid over $100 million to the consulting firm CRC Advisors over the past decade. The payments to CRC have doubled since Leo became co-owner and chairman in 2020. The figures were independently verified by Bloomberg News using public tax filings. The payments have drawn an IRS complaint from another ethics group, Campaign for Accountability, who claim that Leo and his firm are being improperly enriched through tax-exempt organizations. The close relationship between Leo's nonprofit network and CRC is also under investigation by DC Attorney General Brian Schwalb. Leo denies the allegations and says that CRC provides significant benefits to its nonprofit clients. [Extracted from the article]
