Abstract

The US Supreme Court has rejected a bid by Republican-led states, including Missouri, to delay the sentencing of former President Donald Trump in his New York criminal conviction for hiding hush-money payments. The court declined to allow Missouri to sue New York and temporarily block Trump's sentencing, which is scheduled for September 18. The court order stated that a majority of justices voted against letting Missouri file the complaint, with Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito being in favor of allowing the state to file but not granting its requests to delay the sentencing and lift the gag order.
