Abstract
This article examines whether clinics offering menopause treatment in Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania that lack a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP) are more likely to provide guideline-nonconcordant care. The study found that clinics with an MSCP-certified provider were significantly less likely to advertise hormone testing, compounded hormone therapy, or bioidentical hormone therapy, and less likely to make claims about hormone therapy promoting youthfulness or weight loss. Additionally, MSCP-affiliated clinics were more likely to accept insurance. The findings suggest that MSCP certification is associated with adherence to evidence-based menopause treatment guidelines and may facilitate patient access to appropriate care.
