Abstract

The article focuses on ongoing armed conflicts and related human rights issues in various regions of Ethiopia. It details recent clashes involving the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) in Oromia Region, including multiple kidnappings and the Ethiopian National Defence Forces' (ENDF) claims of killing hundreds of OLA fighters. Intense fighting between the Fano militia and federal forces in Amhara Region, particularly around Gondar, has resulted in significant casualties, territorial shifts, and accusations of civilian deaths. Additionally, the ENDF pardoned ethnic Tigrayan soldiers convicted for siding with the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) during the 2020–22 Tigray conflict. The article also reports communal violence in Central Ethiopia's Gurage Zone and a deadly attack on a mosque in the Somali Region, both linked to longstanding land disputes and intercommunal tensions.
