Abstract

The article focuses on national parks and settler colonialism in Western Canada. It mentions first wave of park development, dominion officials regularly used the trespassing, squatting, and poaching regulations encoded in park legislation to keep Indigenous peoples out of Canada's newly established parks. It also mentions authorities also regularly removed Indigenous peoples from their lands and trespassing and poaching regulations prohibited hunting within park boundaries.
