Abstract
The UK government is set to introduce a new Tobacco and Vapes bill aimed at creating a "smoke-free generation" by phasing out the sale of tobacco products. The legislation will include a ban on smoking in outdoor spaces such as children's playgrounds, schools, and hospitals, as well as restrictions on vape advertising and sponsorship. Prime Minister Keir Starmer's government is building on a plan initially proposed by former Conservative leader Rishi Sunak to gradually increase the legal age for buying cigarettes, with disposable vapes also set to be banned by June 2025.
