Abstract
The article focuses on recent political developments in Senegal under Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko's new government, which plans to repeal a controversial amnesty law granted by former president Macky Sall that shielded perpetrators of political violence from 2021 to 2024. Sonko's administration aims to investigate deaths linked to this period and pursue justice while implementing a leftist reform agenda alongside President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, who won a parliamentary majority in November. The article also details the removal of Dakar's opposition mayor Barthelemy Dias due to a past homicide conviction, highlighting ongoing political tensions. Additionally, brief updates cover political and judicial events in several African countries, including Angola, Burundi, Malawi, Mali, Sudan, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
