Abstract
Samuel Pepys' diary, published in 1825, became a literary sensation, but rumors circulated about omitted content. Pepys' diary, kept from 1660 to 1669, was heavily censored due to its explicit and potentially damaging content. The full text was not published until the 1970s, revealing Pepys' scandalous and controversial encounters. Despite being celebrated as a classic of British history and literature, Pepys' reputation remains intertwined with the diary's secretive and scandalous nature. [Extracted from the article]
