Abstract
This article examines the psychological and identity impacts of forced return migration on Tunisian migrants deported from European countries. Through qualitative autobiographical interviews with ten Tunisian men who experienced involuntary repatriation, the study explores migrants' decision-making, identity transformations across three migration stages (pre-departure, lived migration, and forced return), and coping strategies. Findings reveal that forced return disrupts migrants' identity trajectories, often causing feelings of failure, social marginalization, and psychological distress, while also highlighting resilience and varied reintegration pathways. The research underscores the need for reintegration policies to address not only economic and social factors but also the psychological well-being of returnees to support sustainable adjustment.
