Abstract
Justice Linda Bell presented an introduction to the ethical guidelines that will govern future law clerks at the Judicial Clerkship Program during the Midyear Meeting. She emphasized that each court and judge will have different ethical expectations for law clerks and highlighted the role of law clerks as an extension of the judge. The presentation also discussed the "five Cs" needed to maintain ethical standards: confidentiality, conflicts of interest, caution, community awareness, and career scope. The Judicial Division is currently working on developing a Code of Conduct for Law Clerks that will address areas such as adjudicatory duties, confidentiality, conflicts of interest, and outside activities.
