Abstract

The article focuses on the fight to save community radio in the U.S. after the decision of the U.S. Congress to dismantle the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). It warns about the end of lifesaving warnings in communities in remote areas without the Public Radio Satellite System and the pull out of digital streams of stations without the CPB's coverage of streaming rights. It discusses the implications of shuttering the CPB for democracy, public goods, rural and tribal communities.
