Abstract

This article examines trends in vasectomy rates in Western New York before and after the June 24, 2022, U.S. Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which overturned federal abortion protections. A retrospective review of 2,428 vasectomy cases from August 2021 to March 2023 found a statistically significant increase in vasectomies among men without children in the six months following the ruling, particularly in men under 36.7 years old. The study highlights demographic-specific changes in vasectomy frequency post-Dobbs and plans to further investigate factors influencing this shift.
