Abstract
The article discusses a study indicating that raising the minimum legal drinking age from 16 to 18 years can enhance teenagers' academic performance and mental health. Conducted by researchers from the University of Zurich and the University of Warwick, the study analyzed data from four Spanish regions that implemented stricter alcohol laws over the past two decades. Findings revealed a significant decrease in binge drinking and intoxication among teenagers, leading to improved scores on PISA exams and a reduction in the use of medications for anxiety and insomnia. The results suggest that similar measures could benefit countries like Switzerland, where youth drinking rates are above the European average. [Extracted from the article]
