Abstract
The article calls for the cease of unlawful arrest and detention or civil claims in South Africa. It presents the case Ridney Matras v. the Minsiter of Police, wherein Matras filed damage claims to the High Court in Mahikeng, South Africa emanating from her assault by members of the South African Police Service that caused her injuries. The provisions of the Cannabis for Private Purposes Act 7 of 2024 are also outlined.
