Abstract

The article discusses the escalating tensions in the Middle East following Hamas' attacks on Israel and the Israeli Defense Force's bombardment of Gaza. The situation has raised concerns about the possibility of a regional war, with Iran and its proxy army Hezbollah increasing rhetoric and rocket fire across Israel's northern border. The Israeli siege of Gaza and its airstrikes have caused a humanitarian catastrophe, leading to protests in several North African capitals. The article also highlights the diverse perspectives and criticisms of Western policy in the region, as well as the reactions of African and Middle Eastern leaders. The conflict is expected to have repercussions across North Africa, particularly in Egypt and Algeria. The article also mentions the impact on Morocco, which has faced opposition due to its normalization deal with Israel. The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has drawn international attention, with calls for humanitarian corridors and pauses in the conflict. The article provides an overview of the destruction and displacement caused by the conflict, as well as the challenges faced by Egypt in managing potential refugee influxes. The fate of hostages held by Hamas remains a complicating factor, and the article highlights the devastating impact on the civilian population in Gaza. The tensions in the Middle East have also sparked protests in Morocco and Algeria, adding to existing regional rivalries. The article concludes by mentioning other news briefs from Central African Republic, Chad, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda, and Uganda's Queen Elizabeth National Park.
