Abstract
This article focuses on research examining mental health disorder symptoms among Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) cadets in Regina, Canada, highlighting the impact of daily self-monitoring on symptom reporting. The study found that cadets who regularly completed daily mental health surveys during their 26-week Cadet Training Program reported fewer symptoms of alcohol use disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, major depressive disorder, panic disorder, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from pre-training to pre-deployment. These findings suggest that consistent self-monitoring may support improvements in mental health among RCMP cadets and officers. The research underscores the potential of daily mental health symptom tracking as an accessible tool to mitigate mental health challenges in law enforcement personnel.
