Abstract
Large-scale abductions have put pressure on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Nigeria, as kidnappers continue to target communities and carry out mass kidnappings for ransom. In recent attacks, over 100 people were abducted in the Kajuru area of Kaduna state, following the kidnapping of more than 250 school pupils in the same state. The violence has displaced around a million people, and the government has sent troops to rescue the students, but little detail has emerged. The rise in kidnappings is believed to be driven by poverty and lack of money, and the government's response has been criticized as ineffective. [Extracted from the article]
