Abstract

The article discusses the court case JJ v. Spectrum Community Health which focuses on patient autonomy in Great Britain. Topics discussed include a quadriplegic, bed bound prisoner's call for a judicial review of the care provider's restriction of his diet to avoid the risk of choking, a speech and language therapy (SALT) assessment which found the prisoner to be at high risk of choking, and the rights of the prisoner as a patient and as human being.
