Abstract

A scoping review conducted by researchers at the University of Montreal examined the effects of recreational cannabis legalization (RCL) on mental health. The review found a lack of research and inconclusive results regarding the impact of RCL on mental health. The studies included in the review focused on various populations and diagnoses, but there were gaps in the examination of cannabis use patterns among people receiving psychiatric care and the availability of longitudinal studies. The researchers concluded that collaboration between clinicians, researchers, and policymakers is necessary to address these research gaps and develop evidence-based policies.
