Abstract

Charles Schwab & Co.'s charitable fund has donated $141 million to a group associated with conservative activist Leonard Leo, according to a tax filing. The Schwab Charitable Fund has given over a quarter billion dollars to 85 Fund in two years, supporting conservative campaigns against racial justice education and healthcare for transgender individuals. Another Leo-linked group gave over $150 million to the Schwab Charitable Fund in 2022, demonstrating how the fund can act as a pass-through for large donations. The Schwab fund and Leo have become central to conservative funding in the US. [Extracted from the article]
