Abstract

The article discusses a study focused on the mental health needs of police officers, particularly regarding Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Conducted through semi-structured interviews with eight supervisory officers, the research identified themes related to the challenges of accessing mental health support and the complexities of the supervisory role. The findings suggest a need for improvements in existing support measures and a cultural shift towards encouraging help-seeking behaviors among officers. This study contributes valuable insights into the mental health challenges faced by a specific demographic of police officers, an area with limited existing research. [Extracted from the article]
