Abstract
This article focuses on evaluating the recruitment program of a mid-size southeastern municipal law enforcement agency amid challenges in police staffing. The qualitative study found that the recruitment process significantly influences candidates' decisions to apply and select an agency, with key factors including responsiveness, communication, personal engagement, and timeliness. It proposes a self-sustaining model that emphasizes agency-specific motivating factors and strong recruitment practices to enhance program effectiveness. The study highlights the value of evidence-based, customer-service approaches in addressing nationwide law enforcement hiring difficulties.
