Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers from the University of Regina in Canada has found that Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) officers are exposed to a high number of potentially psychologically traumatic events (PPTEs), which increases their risk of developing mental health disorders. The study surveyed 1,348 participants and found that RCMP officers reported exposure to more types of PPTEs compared to previous samples, as well as higher prevalence rates for all PPTE types compared to the general Canadian population. The study highlights the need for increased resources and support for RCMP officers to mitigate the impact of PPTEs on their mental health. [Extracted from the article]
