Abstract
Researchers from Harvard University conducted a study on the impact of the U.S. Federal Minimum Legal Drinking Age Law on alcohol-involved firearm suicides. The study found that there was a significant increase in alcohol-positive firearm suicides at age 21 compared to age 20, with no discontinuity in alcohol-negative firearm suicides. The researchers suggest that policies and programs should focus on reducing the link between alcohol and firearms to prevent suicides among young adults. The study was published in eClinicalMedicine and can be accessed online for further information. [Extracted from the article]
