Abstract
The article focuses on Hyundai and Kia's agreement to retrofit over 4 million U.S. vehicles to address theft concerns and enhance vehicle security. As part of a resolution with a coalition of 35 state attorneys general, the automakers will provide free zinc-reinforced ignition cylinder protectors to eligible vehicle owners and will equip all future U.S. models with engine immobilizer anti-theft technology. This initiative follows a rise in car thefts linked to social media trends, which have resulted in numerous accidents and fatalities. Additionally, Hyundai and Kia will pay up to $9 million in restitution and have previously settled a class-action lawsuit related to vehicle thefts for $200 million. [Extracted from the article]
