Abstract
This symposium focuses on the evolving and multifaceted contributions of civil society organizations (CSOs) to international justice and accountability processes. It highlights CSOs' pioneering roles in establishing international tribunals, advancing survivor-centered and intersectional approaches, and innovating alternative accountability mechanisms such as vetting, sanctions, corporate liability cases, and People's Tribunals. The collection of articles examines diverse civil society activities including documentation, advocacy, and litigation across various global contexts, while also addressing challenges and opportunities in engaging with formal and informal justice systems. The symposium further explores critical perspectives on transforming international justice culture toward more community-centered and transformative approaches.
