Abstract

An essay is presented which explores the publication of leaks of outcomes of pending U.S. Supreme Court cases by American journalist Drew Pearson in the 1940s. Topics discussed include the predictions of Pearson on the cases Federal Power Commission v. Hope Natural Gas, U.S. v. South-Eastern Underwriters, and Bridges v. Wixon, the reputation earned by Pearson as a political columnist, and the varying response of Supreme Court justices on the disclosure of information by Pearson.
