Abstract

This study investigates the intergenerational transmission mechanism of psychological flexibility—the ability to adaptively respond to internal experiences and environmental demands—between parents and children. Findings indicate that parents' psychological flexibility significantly predicts their children's psychological flexibility, with authoritative and authoritarian parenting styles partially mediating this relationship. Additionally, teacher support moderates both the direct effects of parenting styles on children's psychological flexibility and the mediating role of these parenting styles in the transmission process, buffering negative impacts of authoritarian parenting and enhancing positive effects of authoritative parenting. The research highlights the combined influence of family and school environments on children's psychological flexibility development.
