Abstract
This article discusses the role of zoning laws in determining the location of cannabis facilities. It explains that while over 20 states have established regulations for recreational cannabis businesses, local zoning boards and commissions have the power to determine where these facilities can be built. The article provides examples of how zoning laws have been used to both support and restrict the growth of the cannabis industry, including the use of moratoriums, school buffer zones, and special use permits. It also addresses legal challenges related to federal law and the approval of cannabis facility zoning applications. Overall, the article highlights the ongoing debate and uncertainty surrounding the location of cannabis facilities. [Extracted from the article]
