Abstract
The US Supreme Court declined to impose new restrictions on educational diversity initiatives, rejecting a challenge to a temporary admissions policy that increased the number of Black and Latino students at three prestigious Boston public high schools. The policy, implemented during the pandemic, replaced standardized tests with student grades and zip codes for the 2021 admissions cycle. The court's decision, which marks the second time this year it has refrained from expanding its 2022 ruling on race in university admissions, was met with dissent from two justices. The case, brought by a group of Asian-American and White students, alleged unconstitutional discrimination, but both a federal trial judge and appeals court ruled against the challengers.
