Abstract
The article discusses how anti-lynching literature and bibliographic control tried to change the representation of lynching as violence against African American men in the U.S. South. Other topics include the documentary tradition of said literature led by author Ida B. Wells, the justification of mob violence in literature and the victims of white supremacy as inscribed in African American historicity.
