Abstract

The article discusses the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's (CPSC) proposed rule to ban aerosol dusters containing more than 18 milligrams (mg) of HFC-152a and/or HFC-134a due to concerns over inhalant abuse. Topics discussed include the CPSC's analysis and decision-making process, an alternative proposal from the Household & Commercial Products Association (HCPA) based on a Minnesota law, and specific requirements for the retail sale and labeling of aerosol dusters.
