Abstract
The article discusses the need for Africa to redefine its partnerships with global actors, emphasizing the importance of African-led development and equitable collaboration. It highlights the historical context of Africa's exploitation and the current imbalances in trade and investment, particularly in critical minerals, where Africa retains only a small percentage of global revenue despite its vast resources. The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and initiatives like the Platform for Harmonized African Health Products Manufacturing (PHAHM) are presented as key steps toward fostering intra-African trade and self-sufficiency in health services. The article calls for a shift from paternalistic external interventions to mutually beneficial partnerships that respect Africa's sovereignty and potential for growth. [Extracted from the article]
