Abstract
In the article, the author examines the case St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust v Casey heard by a British court to discuss the objections to the determination of brain stem death (BD). Other topics include the legal status of individuals who were declared brain dead by clinicians and the efforts to revise the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges' "Code of Practice for the Diagnosis and Confirmation of Death."
