Abstract

This article examines national online interest in vasectomies in the United States following the June 24, 2022, Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which overturned the constitutional right to abortion access. Using Google Trends data from January 2022 to January 2023, the study found a significant short-term increase in searches for “vasectomy” immediately after the ruling, with no significant change after the early leak of the decision or in long-term trends. Among the top 10 states with the highest vasectomy search interest post-decision, seven had abortion bans enacted following Dobbs v. Jackson. The findings suggest that changes in abortion policy may influence male reproductive health interests.
