Abstract
This article focuses on Egyptian American filmmaker Maggie Kamal's 2021 short film *Microbus*, which portrays the experience of sexual harassment within a patriarchal society through the confined setting of a microbus taxi in Cairo. The film follows Nour, a young woman navigating unwanted advances from the driver, culminating in a disturbing act of harassment that highlights gendered power dynamics in public spaces. Kamal's choice of setting and intimate filming style aims to immerse the audience as witnesses to Nour's vulnerability, emphasizing the pervasive and often overlooked nature of sexism. The film's reception across festivals in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East revealed varied cultural responses, underscoring the universal yet context-specific ways sexual harassment is perceived and experienced.
