Abstract
The article discusses how regulatory changes can impact workers' motivation when their moral beliefs conflict with workplace laws. Employees in various industries, such as healthcare and education, are facing challenges due to changing regulations. Research shows that employees who experience moral-legal conflict feel less motivated at work and are rated as less proactive by their managers. The article suggests that employees can manage this conflict by reframing laws as a "necessary evil," while managers can create a psychologically safe environment for employees to voice their concerns and empower them to adjust their roles through job crafting.
