Abstract
The article focuses on German investor Lars Windhorst being found in contempt of court by a London judge and receiving a suspended 18-month prison sentence related to a long-running dispute with Abu Dhabi-based brokerage ADS Securities LLC. Windhorst’s investment vehicle, Tennor Holding BV, was ordered in December 2022 to pay €27 million ($31 million) to ADS Securities for an unpaid judgment debt linked to a 2021 transaction involving shares of German company Fyber SA, but the debt remains unsettled. Despite multiple court orders and hearings, Windhorst has shown a pattern of non-compliance, including failing to attend a hearing in June 2023, which contributed to the contempt ruling. Tennor Holding BV has since declared bankruptcy in the Netherlands, and the ADS Securities claim is now unsecured in that insolvency process. The suspended sentence requires Windhorst’s attendance at a forthcoming hearing, where the court may decide if he must serve the prison term. [Extracted from the article]
