Abstract
The article focuses on the impact of the partial U.S. government shutdown on Transportation Security Administration (TSA) staffing and airport security wait times. Following a presidential memorandum by Donald Trump directing the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to pay TSA agents using existing funds, the rate of TSA staff calling out of work has decreased by over 43%, leading to shorter security lines at many airports. Despite improvements, call-out rates and wait times vary by airport, with some major hubs still experiencing significant staffing shortages. The shutdown, the longest in U.S. history, continues amid political deadlock, and a resolution to fully reopen DHS remains uncertain.
