Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at Edith Cowan University in Joondalup, Australia, explores the perceived constraints of cannabis tourists engaging in commercial cannabis tourism overseas. The study compares the constraints experienced by first-time and repeat cannabis tourists and identifies intrapersonal, interpersonal, and structural constraints to cannabis consumption. The findings suggest that repeat cannabis tourists perceive fewer constraints than first-time tourists, and psychological tactics such as claims of entitlement and normal practice play a role in these differences. The study provides insights for industry practitioners, policymakers, and residents of cannabis tourism destinations to better understand cannabis tourists' decision-making processes.
