Abstract

Cybercrime is an important global crime that presents a huge challenge that needs to be handled carefully and thoughtfully (Atrey, 2023). It is a common type of online criminal activity that has a significant impact on a nation's economy, society, and security (Pouani Tientcheu, 2021). Cybercrime is becoming a bigger problem for businesses and consumers, who are actively looking for doable ways to safeguard themselves against online dangers and crimes (Enigbokan & Ajayi, 2017). However, Tientcheu (2021) points out that successful methods to tackle cybercrime are hampered by a lack of understanding of the phenomena. The escalating number of cybercrimes coupled with the ineffectiveness of existing technological approaches to mitigate them suggests the need for more proactive preventive measures (Goni, 2022). The researcher wanted to establish if farmers knew what cybercrime is or if they have heard about it. The researcher also wanted to assess which types of cybercrimes they have heard of or experienced. The researcher used questionnaires to establish if farmers knew what cybercrime is and if they knew the different types of cybercrimes they could experience. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
