Abstract

China has proposed lifting punitive tariffs on Australian wine, potentially ending a three-year trade dispute between the two countries. Australian vintners and lawmakers have welcomed the proposal, which would revive a billion-dollar Australian market and put an end to Beijing's campaign of punitive trade actions. China's Ambassador to Australia and Australia's Trade Minister have both expressed optimism about the potential removal of the tariffs. However, Australian winemakers remain cautious, as they will face the challenge of re-invigorating the market after being out of it for three years. [Extracted from the article]
